Benjamin Franklin – effective no matter what your age

Busy time of life for me so decided to use a past post about Benjamin Franklin; post appeared on July 1, 2019; I hope that you enjoy.

Going to post something little bit different from career area going to talk about history

July 4th the day we celebrate the United States Independence from Great Britain, people may think about the American Revolutionary War.  I enjoy reading about the heroes of the American Revolutionary War.  One of the heroes of the American Revolution War I enjoy is Benjamin Franklin – here was a hero that was an inventor, took part in the American revolutionary activities and a successful Business person.

Benjamin Franklin was involved in many of the American Revolution activities at a later age in life. Some of the activities he was involved in were:
•           1776 – Declaration of Independence (Benjamin Franklin was 70 years old)
•           1776 – diplomat to France (Benjamin Franklin was 70 years old)
•           1783 – 1784 Treaty of Pairs – ends the American Revolutionary War (Benjamin Franklin was 77 years old)
•           1787 – United States Constitution Convention (Benjamin Franklin was 81 years old)

For me, Benjamin Franklin can be as an example of what you can do no matter what your age happens to be.  Regardless what age a person may be, a person can be effective and contributor to society – just like Benjamin Franklin.

Career Exploration and Career Stuff: Skill share a place to learn

Leaning ideas to make your life better
Today, look at career stuff

Series of Blog posts on career stuff. Focus will be on career exploration and Internet job resources. My hope is that you will find the information helpful in your career journey. As with anything you read on the internet, please evaluate the information you read and use the specific information that helpful to you.

A person may value learning something new; a person may be able to learn a new skill that can help a person in their careers; being a student; and/or helping to satisfy a curiosity.
One place I have found useful is called Skill share.
Skill share (https://www.skillshare.com/)
Skill share a web site that has different classes.  I used Skill share myself to learn about DaVinci Resolve (a video editing program) and Zoom (a video – conferencing program).

You can pay for a subscription to gain access to classes.  The subscription rate for the entire year about $65 dollars.
You can see if Skill share may work for you be, you can look into:

Browsing the classes – you can go to the Skill share web site and see if the classes may work for you.
Free trail – Skill share may offer a free trail that can allow you to access the classes.

You may find Skill share a place to help you learn skills.  I would recommend Skills share as a place for people to explore and see if Skill share a place that can work for people.

Feeling Stress? Unplug from the news

Sometimes when I watch the news, I can feel stress and depressed; some of this may be that the news tend to emphasize negative news rather then positive news; will hear about the bus driver crash instead of the bus driver who spent 30 years safety transporting children day after day.

If the news gets you down, you may consider just to unplug from the news.  You can still learn what going on in the world; you may just adjust the amount of news that you receive.  You may decide to obtain a news summary. You may decide to hear the news summary from a radio broadcast that does news at the top of the hour.  You may be able to get your news from a news summary rather than watching (or listening or reading) the news for several hours

Instead of the news, here some activities to consider:
* Hobby – look into doing a hobby that may interest you
* Read – read a book
* Movie – watch a movie that interests your
* Get involved – may be able to find ways to get involved on a particular issue that interests you
* Social connections – people are social animals; people are social beings; you may find it valuable to stay in contact with people.  Social connections may help you with stress you may have. You may be able to find the social connections with each other
* Look up something positive – with the negative news; sometimes difficulty to see the positive stuff that goes in life.  You may not be able to see the positive events that occur in life.  For example, you may be able to enjoy a wonderful piece of food that you enjoy (hello sausage pizza).  You can search for positive news on the Internet.  Do an Internet search looking up terms like “Good news” or “Positive news”.  You could do a search on Google (Or search on YouTube to watch a positive video)
You can look on Google to find other search terms to search by.  You can search for the definition of terms like “Good”, “positive” or “news” to give you other terms to search by.
* Comedy – laughter can improve much; you may enjoy watching your favorite comedian or watching a comedy movie.
* Play a game – play a game with others

I enjoy searching for the research that in development and new treatments for Covid 19 that can help people.

If you are getting depressed from the news, consider unplugging from the news for awhile; don’t listen (or watch or read) the news for several hours.  Consider doing another activity,

To those facing difficulties, thoughts, prayers, hopes and other stuff (and anything else one can think of where people can express this better than I) – hope your situation improves.
To those facing joys, celebrate the joy and hope you continue to have them.

Steps to Create a YouTube channel

I created a YouTube Channel people may enjoy
Called Live Your Life Learning

(either search “Live Your Life Learning YouTube” on the YouTube search feature to find it; or can also try Google search)

Someone asked me the steps I used to create a YouTube channel

I thought the steps could be helpful to other people as well.

So here the steps involved,

Here are the steps I used to help me create a YouTube channel
(I watched YouTube videos to help learn about YouTube)

Broad Overview in the Next Video
I using this example here, for this was the first video I saw that put everything together
* Audio text process
* Audio File
* Video editor

Best Text to Speech Generator for YouTube Videos (REAL VOICE)
From Kavi Senanayake
video focused on having computer text.
The video focused on a particular tool called IBM Watson that would give a person text audio sound.
The video showed a person type in text and then get an audio text file
When I tried it, it did not work (the file would not load)

The reason I am including this – was this was the first video that gave me a broad outline, a broad view of putting a video together, was not the purpose of the video, but the person goes through quickly the following tools

Audio text process– person types in text and then an audio is created
What is important here is the person suggests that if dealing with audio files; break it up into 30 to 45 second segments.  And creates a separate audio file for each slice. Used IBM Watson (did not work when I tried it)

Audio file – used Audacity
Person goes through the steps quickly; but notice that the person puts the audio files in the order of the presentation.
Each audio file will create their own wavelength Row with each row having the wavelength square in the Row.
The person pushes each wavelength square further to the right as to be the next audio file in the presentation.  So it goes like
(1st row) audio file first audio bit
(2nd row)                                  Next audio file second audio bit
(3rd row)                                                                                  Next audio bit
So, he organizes the many different audio bits by pushing each square further to the right.
So, when he starts the audio – the audio machine will reach the first row, the second row, and so on.

He then saves all the different audio into one big file (the big file having all the different smaller audio files). The person uses Audacity to create one audio file to then put in the Video Editor

Video Editor
Then he uses a video editor to organize the audio and video parts (I do not use the one presented in video)

I was just showing you this video to give broad “outline” of the entire process – or this was a video that gave me the entire broad “outline”

Audacity – the audio file tool

Thought the free stuff could create legal problems – thought other paid sites where better – thought Artlist: https://artlist.io/ was a good place to pay for license and then have a great deal of room to use the music (I have not done it myself; but if I use music – I will probably look at Artlist myself)

Photographs (this is from a website)
Looked at web sites that gave permission to use photographs for commercial use.
I found Pixabay to be a good site
Images from Pixabay (www.pixabay.com) – licensed to allow images for commercial use.
Need images for commercial use check out Pixabay.  Images are free to use.
Check Pixabay “Simplified Pixabay License” for specific details
(at the time of going to the web page – access found by Clicking)
Type in: https://pixabay.com/
            Then click

Screen will appear under “Explore” the select

There were some restrictions if the photograph had people in it; so, I been using photographs that do not have people in it.

It appears you can have YouTube itself do the Closed Captions automatically for free; but the accuracy may not be there – appears to be an option where you can manually look at it to see if it is accurate.  The person then mentioned a paid option that done by humans (to expensive for me; but an option for people)

I did not use the program in the video Snappa – I used Canva myself. https://www.canva.com/.  Both Snappa and Canva are free to use (Canva does have some content that one does pay for; but the basic stuff is free).  One aspect to the video is making sure what you design works for different devices; I used Canva – and just centered the thing I wanted which was just words that said “Live Your Life Learning” – but Snappa gives you guidance on how to tell what sections you need to look at (better explained in video)

Happy creating. 😊
