The Three C’s–Content, Communication & Connection

Classification Systems

Classifications can be a way to help a person organize information in a particular area; classifications can help a person understand a specific area better. You may find classifications in many places. For example, you may discover classification systems in books in a library, a folder in a file cabinet, or a file in a directory on a computer.

Different Remote Jobs

You can find many remote job positions; you may find many classification systems to describe remote jobs. Here is my attempt at a classification system to describe many remote job positions. I call the three C’s–Content, Communication, and Connection.

Content

These are remote job positions where the job focus is on a particular content. The job positions may focus on creating and editing specific content of some type or may deal with the content in their job positions. Content job positions have content as the center of their work activities. Examples of Content jobs could be:

  • Writer
  • Editor
  • Computer Programmer
  • Instructional Designer
  • Artist

Communication

Communication jobs focus on the transmission of information from one person to another. Often these jobs will have a person transmit information from one person to a larger group. Communication jobs can have feedback from people, so it is not entirely one-way communication, but the focus will be on the transition of information from one person to another. Examples of communication jobs are:

  • Teacher
  • Instructor
  • Presenter
  • Facilitator
  • Trainer

Connection

These are job positions where people will be in conversation (either talking or writing) with each other. People can converse in exchange for information, thoughts, and emotions. Often, connection jobs have conversations focused on accomplishing something. Connection jobs are usually one to one; or small group conversations. Examples of connection jobs are:

  • Counselor
  • Seller
  • Advisor
  • Customer Service
  • Medical Doctor
  • Attorney
  • Accountant
  • Consultant

The three C’s–Content, Communication, and Connection are a way to organize many remote job positions. Remote job positions may belong to many categories. For example, a remote job may teach a class (Communication) and create a written document (Content). A remote job may belong to many categories of the three C’s: Content, Communication, and Connection.

In conclusion, people may have different ways to organize remote jobs. People may have other classification systems to organize remote employment. I have a classification of remote jobs by the three C’s–Content, Communication, and Connection.
